LYNCHBURG, Va. - More personal records fell on Saturday as the Methodist University track and field team competed at the Merill Lynch Track Classic in Lynchburg, Va.
Ruby Blackwell broke her own school record in the 200 meters with a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 24.41 seconds. Blackwell also finished second in the 100 meters with a personal best 12.15 seconds.
Ashlynn Chavis provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump with a leap of 5.69 meters to finish second at the meet.
Brianna Robinson had a personal record 10.98 meters in the triple jump, placing third overall.
Allison Ray threw a personal best 9.55 meters in the shot put.
Petros Bein finished second in the 110 meter hurdles, running the race in 15.12 seconds. Methodist dominated the 100 meters with graduate
Tazz Petty winning the race in 10.66 seconds while
Stefan Johnson placed second (10.77),
Greg Bailey finished third (10.78) and
Cedric McGill was sixth (10.98). McGill, Johnson,
Pierson Singleton and Bailey combined to win the 4x100 meter relay in 41.71 seconds.
Aaron Holmes ran the 400 meter hurdles in a personal best 56.03 seconds to place third in the event.
After the last two meets, Methodist's
Greg Bailey and
Ruby Blackwell hold the top 200 meter times in the country.
The Monarchs will travel to the International Freedom Games Apr. 16-17.
