BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team won 9-0 over Greensboro in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Friday.
Matthew Taylor and
Robert Clayton won 8-4 at number one doubles while
Reid Baker and
Steven Burkett won 8-2 at number two.
Ricky Aybar and
Steve Strawn won 8-2 at number three.
Methodist kept up the shutout with six singles wins. Taylor won 6-3, 6-4 at number one and Clayton won 8-6 at number two. Baker won 6-2, 6-2 at number three and
Warren Robinson won 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) at number four.
Eric Smith won 6-1, 6-0 at number five and Burkett finished with the 8-1 win at number six.
The Monarchs advance to face N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m.
