HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Methodist women's golf team held onto a one-stroke lead after the second round of the NCAA Championship. The Monarchs are in first with a 650 (317-333) ahead of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at 651 (331-320).

Methodist senior Alana Swain shot a 77 in the second day of competition to move into a three-way tie for second at 156 (79-77). Junior Paige Caldwell is also tied for second with a 156 (76-80). Both golfers are just one stroke behind leader Natalie Matuszak from St. Mary's College (IN).

Gretchen McLean shot her second 84 for a 168 in the tournament thus far. Kelsey Magnine shot a 92 in the second round for a 183 total.

Unfortunately Susan Martin signed off on an inaccurate score card and after she reported the error, the officials disqualified Martin's 79 for the round.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Thursday for the third round of competition.
