Barton Holds On For 5-4 Win

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team tried to make a comeback after trailing 3-0 in doubles, but Barton held on for the 5-4 win.

Matthew Taylor and Duncan Miller lost the number one doubles match 8-5 while Robert Clayton and Reid Baker lost 8-3 at number two. Sean Teeter and Steven Burkett lost 8-2.

In singles, Taylor won 6-2, 7-6 (3) at number one and Miller won 7-6 (6), 2-2 default at number two. Austin Wang lost 6-1, 6-2 at number three and Greg Patterson lost 6-1, 6-3 at number four. Clayton won in a third set tiebreaker at number five 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 and Brad Tulenko won 6-3, 6-2.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday when they host Benedict College at 9 a.m.
