Methodist Lacrosse Dominates LaGrange

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist lacrosse team scored first and never trailed as they cruised to the 19-7 win over LaGrange College. 

Methodist's Amber Jurkvoac and Abby Harmon scored the first two goals of the game before LaGrange's Kelsey Griffin came back with a goal on a free position. The Monarchs led 4-2 with 18:30 left to play before breaking out on a 6-0 run thanks in part to three goals from Jasmine Stephens. The Panthers scored one just before halftime, but Methodist held the 10-3 lead at the break.

LaGrange scored the first goal of the second half, but Methodist continued to dominate taking the 16-5 lead on a goal from Jurkovac. The Monarchs led by as many as 12 before finishing with the 18-7 win.

Stephens finished with seven goals while Harmon and Jurkovac added four goals and an assist apiece. Brittany St. Jacques scored two goals including a quick stick goal on the pass from Harmon. Brittany Brockway also scored for the Monarchs.

Griffin led LaGrange with four goals.

Emily Forester made nine saves for Methodist and Chelsea Totaro had 21 saves for the Panthers.

Methodist will be back in action on Sunday when they host Agnes Scott at 1:30 p.m.
