FERRUM, Va. - The Methodist men's tennis team earned a 9-0 shutout over Ferrum College to improve to 11-4 overall this season.
The Monarchs opened up with a 3-0 lead after doubles.
Matthew Taylor and
Greg Patterson won 8-1 at number one and
Austin Wang and
Robert Clayton won 8-0 at number two.
Sean Teeter and
Brad Tulenko won 8-2 at number three.
Methodist kept the pressure up in singles, earning six wins in straight sets. Taylor won 6-2, 6-0 at number one and Wang won 6-2, 7-5 at number two. Patterson won 6-1, 6-2 at number three. Tulenko won 6-0, 6-1 at number four and
Lawrence Salmon won 6-1, 6-1 at number five.
Mark Tarentino finished up with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number six.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Hampden-Sydney.
