Monarchs Fall to Christopher Newport

Methodist finished with seven draw controls

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport jumped on top early and finished with the 20-3 win over Methodist women's lacrosse. 

Methodist's Abby Harmon got the first draw of the game to give Methodist possession, but Christopher Newport forced a turnover to drive to the other end and score the first goal of the game. The Captains went on to take the 14-0 halftime lead.

Jasmine Stephens opened the second half with back-to-back goals to put the Monarchs on the board. CNU came back with a goal, but Stephens responded with her third goal of the game with 14:52 remaining. The Captains finished the game with the next five goals for the 20-3 win.

Stephens scored Methodist's three goals on three shots. Dawn Sanderson made 12 saves for the Monarchs.

Hannah Wilkerson had two saves for the Captains.

Methodist will be back in action on Wednesday when they host N.C. Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m.
