Methodist Falls to Salisbury

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Salisbury jumped out to the 8-2 lead and held on for the 8-4 win over the Methodist baseball team Saturday. 

Salisbury struck first with two runs in the second on three hits. Methodist came back and countered in the bottom of the inning when Brian Inghram and Shawn Lovette drew walks. Chris Perry singled to score Inghram and Matt Quick advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt. Dustin Brown hit a sacrifice fly to score Lovette for the tying run.

The Sea Gulls regained the lead in the fourth with two runs and added two in the fifth to go along with a run in the sixth and seventh innings. Trey Such reached on an error in the eighth and Inghram hit a home run to left field, but Salisbury finished with the 8-4 win.

Tripp Lancaster was 3-for-5 at plate and Inghram finished 2-for-3.

Perry pitched four innings with four strikeouts. Andrew Womble, Michael Judge, Brett Bially, Josh Ayers and Rusty White finished in relief.

Methodist will finish the regular season on Sunday when they host Salisbury at 1 p.m.
