FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team battled with nationally ranked N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon, but the No. 11 Bishops prevailed 8-1.
N.C. Wesleyan took the 3-0 lead after doubles.
Matthew Taylor and
Greg Patterson lost 8-1 at number one and
Austin Wang and
Robert Clayton lost 8-2 at number two.
Sean Teeter and
Duncan Miller lost 8-3 at number three.
Matthew Taylor earned the 6-3, 6-1 win at number one singles for the Monarchs. Miller lost 7-6, 6-2 at number two and Wang lost 6-0, 6-3 at number three. Patterson and Clayton lost 6-1, 6-0 at number four and five singles respectively.
Brad Tulenko lost 6-0, 6-0 at number six.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport at 2 p.m.
