FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist women's lacrosse team used an 8-0 run in the first half to cruise to the 14-4 win over N.C. Wesleyan.
Methodist took the early 3-0 lead with goals from
Jasmine Stephens and
Abby Harmon. The Bishops got on the board in the 11th minute, but Methodist responded with eight straight goals to hold the 11-1 lead at halftime. N.C. Wesleyan scored the first goal of the second half as the two teams went on to trade goals. The Bishops scored back-to-back goals to trail 12-4 with 10:52 remaining, but Stephens earned the next draw and drove in for a goal.
Amber Jurkovac closed the scoring with a goal in the final minutes to help the Monarchs to the 14-4 win.
Stephens led the team with six goals. Harmon and Jurkovac both had four goals and an assist apiece while
Megan Severn added an assist.
Dawn Sanderson made five saves for the Monarchs and Sacejewia Evans had eight stops for the Bishops.
Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Bridgewater.
