FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist baseball team dropped their regular season finale 6-1 to Salisbury University.
Methodist scored the first run of the game when
Sergio Davis doubled down the right field line and moved to third on
Brian Inghram's sacrifice.
Brandon Thigpen came through with the RBI single to score Davis.
Salisbury came back with two solo home runs in the top of the fourth to take the 2-1 advantage. The Monarchs looked to rally in the seventh after they loaded bases with a walk for
Dustin Brown and singles by
Tripp Lancaster and
Sergio Davis. Salisbury brought Drew Baldwin into pitch and the Monarchs went hitless for the remainder of the game.
The Sea Gulls added three insurance runs in the eighth to extend their lead to 5-1 and used a lead-off walk in the ninth to finish with the 6-1 win.
Davis finished 3-for-4 at the plate.
Tre' Britt pitched 7.2 innings scattering six hits with eight strikeouts.
