MARTINSVILLE, Va. -- The eighth-seeded Methodist volleyball team fell, 3-0, to top-seeded and fifth-ranked Christopher Newport in the quarterfinal round of the USA South Conference Tournament at Patrick Henry Community College on Friday afternoon.
The Captains, seeking their sixth consecutive conference title, defeated the Monarchs 25-12, 25-14, 25-10 to improve to 34-2 on the season. Methodist closes out the season at 16-12.

Risa Smith and
Allison Graves led the Monarchs with four kills apiece and
Kendra Krupp totaled 14 assists to lead the MU offense. Graves and Krupp each contributed a team-high seven digs and
Ryanne Greer totaled six.
Jessie Kolden led the Captains with 11 kills and Christie Fellows, Chastity Lacy, and Cory Harris contributed nine kills apiece as CNU hit .424 as a team. Alyssa Kidd had 34 assists and Abby Hogge posted 16 digs.
CNU will now advance to face the winner of Averett vs. Piedmont at 12:00 pm on Saturday.
