Box Score ASHLAND, Va. - The Methodist lacrosse team made a strong showing in their season opener Sunday trailing 6-5 at halftime before taking the 15-12 loss.
The Yellow Jackets took the early 2-0 lead, but Methodist's
Hope Motahari put the Monarchs on the board with a free position goal. Both teams traded goals throughout the half with Cassandra Walter moving Methodist within one at halftime with a free position shot in the last two minutes.
Randolph-Macon rattled off three quick goals to start the second half before
Jessie Earp stopped the run. The Yellow Jackets scored another three goals to lead 12-6, but Motohari,
Jasmine Stephens and Walter came back with three straight goals of their own. Unfortunately Macon countered with three goals to go ahead by six. The Monarchs scored the final three goals of the game, but could not make up the difference taking their first loss of the year.
Stephens paced Methodist with three goals and an assist while Motahari had three goals of her own. Walter,
Brittany St. Jacques and Earp finished with two apiece.

Catharine Savage had nine saves while the Yellow Jackets' Nicole Woodworth had 17 stops.
Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they host Shenandoah University at 12 pm.
