WILSON, N.C. - Methodist took the early lead after doubles and finished with the 6-3 win over Barton College to win their fourth straight and move to 10-2 on the year.
The Monarchs took the first and second doubles matches to go ahead 2-1 after doubles.
Duncan Miller and
Hans Baumstark won 8-5 at number one and
Greg Patterson along with teammate
Robert Clayton battled for the 9-8 (7-5) win at number two.
Austin Wang and
Lawrence Salmon dropped the third match 8-4.
Miller won 6-1, 6-3 at number one singles and Baumstark came back to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 at number two. Patterson lost a three-set match 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 10-4 at number three and Wang lost 6-2, 6-2 at number four.
Dillon Sullivan earned the 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win at number five and Salmon won 6-3, 6-1 at number six.
Methodist will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Averett University for the USA South Athletic Conference opener.
