Second Half Rally Falls Short

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist lacrosse team out scored Greensboro 6-3 in the second half, but the rally fell short as the Pride took the 15-12 win.

Greensboro (3-6, 3-1) led 3-1 early, but Methodist came back and tied the game at three with 18:06 remaining in the first half. The Pride went on a seven goal run to lead 10-3 before Jasmine Stephens stopped the run with a goal on the assist from Hope Motahari. Both teams traded goals back and forth before Greensboro took the 12-6 lead at halftime.

Methodist scored the first two goals of the second half, but Greensboro's Brittany Ziobro came back with two of her own to give the Pride the 14-8 lead. Methodist outscored the Pride 4-1 down the stretch, but Greensboro held on for the 15-12 win.

Stephens led the Monarchs with four goals while Cassandra Walter added three. Motahari notched a goal and an assist. Arianna Earle, Brittany St. Jacques and Ashley Kiser scored a goal apiece.

Methodist's Catharine Savage had 10 saves while Tierra Lyles had five stops.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday when they host Christopher Newport at 3 p.m.
