Ferrum Dominates Second Half to Upend Methodist

Box Score FERRUM, Va. - Methodist led 5-1 early, but Ferrum came back to out score the Monarchs 9-2 in the second half to earn the 15-9 win.

Ferrum scored the first goal of the game right off the bat, but Methodist came back and rattled off five straight over the next nine minutes to lead 5-1 midway through the first half. The Panthers rallied to tie the game at six with less than a minute to play, before Methodist's Jasmine Stephens scored just before halftime for the 7-6 advantage at the break.

Ferrum scored five goals early in the second half to lead 11-7, but Methodist's Cassandra Walter stopped the run with an unassisted goal. The Panthers responded with four additional goals to extend their lead to seven before Hope Motahari scored the Monarchs' final goal in the final two minutes.

Stephens and Motahari led Methodist with three goals each. Brittany St. Jacques, Ashley Kiser and Walter added one apiece.

Methodist's Catharine Savage made six saves while Amanda Cheney had nine stops for Ferrum.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to N.C. Wesleyan for a 4 p.m. start.
