Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist lacrosse team held the 11-10 edge at halftime, but St. Vincent out scored the Monachs 9-4 during the second half to earn the 19-15 win.

Methodist (0-3) got on the board first when Megan Severn converted on a free position in the sixth minute of play. Both teams traded goals early with the Bearcats holding the 3-2 edge early. Jessie Earp scored for Methodist and Cassandra Walter scored back-to-back goals to give the Monarchs the 5-3 advantage. Methodist took the 8-5 lead after two goals from Jasmine Stephens and a goal from Arianna Earle with eight minutes remaining in the first half. Severn scored her second goal and Brittany St. Jacques gave Methodist their largest lead of the game at 10-6. St. Vincent came back on a 4-1 run to close the first half, but the Monarchs maintained the 11-10 lead at the break.

The Bearcats scored the first two goals of the second half to lead 12-11, but Stephens and St. Jacques helped the Monarchs regain the lead. Hope Motahari scored on a free position to give Methodist a two goal cushion, but St. Vincent tied the game at 14. Motahari came back with her second goal before St. Vincent tied the game at 15. The Bearcats went ahead 17-15 with 10 minutes left in the game and went into their stall offense for the remainder of the game. They notched two more goals with Methodist goalkeeper Catharine Savage out of the crease trying to double.

Stephens led the Monarchs with four goals while St. Jacques had three goals and an assist. Motahari, Severn and Walter added two goals apiece with Earp and Earle scoring one each.

Savage made eight saves in goal while Jenn Forsyth made seven stops for St. Vincent.

Methodist will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Randolph College at 1 p.m.
