FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The NCAA officially released the full participant list for the 2012 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Monday with three Methodist student-athletes qualifying for the event hosted by Grinnell College Mar. 9-10.

Ashlynn Chavis and freshman
Bria Wilson are ranked second and third in the 60 meter dash heading into the event. Chavis finished second at the NCAA Championships a year ago and both women have been trading school records the last couple of weeks making it a highly contested event. Defending champion Erica Johnson of Buffalo State has the best time this year at 7.55 seconds ahead of Chavis at 7.60 and Wilson at 7.65. The preliminaries are set to begin Friday at 6:35 p.m.
Brittanie Morris qualified for the 60 meter hurdles, marking the first time she will compete in the Indoor Championships. She boasts the third best time through qualifying at 8.78 seconds and will kick things off in the preliminaries on Friday at 5:50 p.m.
Chavis is also set to defend her national championship in the long jump. She won the event last year with a career best 5.93 meters and has recorded a season best 5.85 meters this year to rank third going into the event. Wartburg's Skye Morrison is the student-athlete to beat recording 6.17 meters this year. The long jump is one of the first events during the championship weekend set to begin on Friday at 11 a.m.
The Methodist women's team jumped seven spots in the USTFCCCA rankings this week after a tremendous performance at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet. Previously ranked No. 11, the Monarchs are at No. 4 heading into the last weekend of the indoor season. After finishing fourth last year as a team at the NCAA Indoor Championships, head coach Duane Ross always has his sights set higher.
