BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Methodist men's tennis team won 9-0 in the first round of the USA South Tournament over Greensboro College.
The Monarchs took the early 3-0 lead after doubles.
Austin Wang and
Lawrence Salmon won 8-0 at number three and
Greg Patterson combined with
Robert Clayton to win 8-2 at number two.
Duncan Miller and
Hans Baumstark won 8-3 at number one.
Dillon Sullivan won 6-0, 6-1 at number five singles and Wang clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at number four. Patterson won 6-0, 6-1 at number three and Baumstark won 6-0, 6-0 at number two. Miller earned the 6-2, 6-2 win at number one and Salmon finished off with the 6-0, 6-1 win at number six.
The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday when they take on No. 1 N.C. Wesleyan at 2 p.m. in the USA South Tournament Semifinals.
