Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Methodist lacrosse team battled back in the second half, but lost 20-11 to Berry College in the season finale Saturday.
The Vikings (9-5-1) scored the first four goals of the game before Methodist's
Jasmine Stephens came back with two goals to cut the lead in half. Berry rattled off five straight, but Cassandra Walter stopped the run with an unassisted goal with 5:17 left to play in the first half. Berry scored the final two goals of the half to lead 11-3 at the break.
The Monarchs came out strong to start the second half with Stephens tallying two goals and
Hope Motahari scoring her first goal of the game. Berry extended their lead to 16-7 midway through the second half. Stephens finished the half with three additional goals and assisted
Brittany St. Jacques for another goal. The Vikings finished with the 20-11 win.
Stephens led the Monarchs with seven goals and two assists. Motahari added two while St. Jacques and Walters had one apiece.
Catharine Savage made seven saves for the Monarchs and Taylor Martin had 14 stops for Berry.
Methodist recognized seniors Stephens, St. Jacques and
Ambrosia Fenwick in their final career game. The Monarchs finished the season 6-8.
