Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team opened 2013 with a 19-3 loss to St. Andrews on Wednesday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.
The Knights (3-0) opened the game scoring the first 11 goals to take an 11-0 lead by the 16:09 mark of the first half. Catherine Lovallo and Megan Jolly scored four goals apiece during the stretch, while Jolly added a pair of assists.
The Monarchs got on the board at the 13:18 mark when
Jessie Earp fed
Cassie Walter for the Monarchs' first goal of the season to make it an 11-1 game. St. Andrews then added four more tallies in the first half to take a 15-1 lead into the break.
After St. Andrews opened the scoring in the second half to go up 16-1, Earp and Zhane Ruffin' scored back-to-back unassisted goals five minutes apart to pull the Monarchs to within 16-3. St. Andrews then scored the final three goals of the game for the final 19-3 margin.
Lovallo finished with six goals and an assist for the Knights. Jolly and Shana Schroeder each tallied four goals. Victoria Bickett came away with seven draw controls and added four ground balls. Meghan Powell played all 60:00 in goal and made five saves for the Knights.
Ashley Cannon played the duration between the pipes for the Monarchs and made four saves on the day. Walter and
Hope Motahari each led MU with four ground balls and Walter added a pair of caused turnovers.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday when they play at Randolph at 3:00 pm.
