Pride Defeat Monarchs, 21-3, in Women's Lacrosse

Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro College raced out to a 5-0 lead en route to a 21-3 win over the Methodist women's lacrosse team on Friday afternoon.
 
The Monarchs slipped to 1-9 on the season and 1-6 in league play, while the Pride moved to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the USA South.
 
Brittany Ziobro and Aleza Besch each tallied a pair of goals in the opening 10:13 of the game as Greensboro took an early 5-0 lead. MU's Cassie Walter halted the run with an unassisted goal at the 18:41 mark to make it 5-1, but the Pride, behind three more tallies by Besch and another by Ziobro, used an 8-0 run to take a 13-1 lead 6:58 before the break.
 
Hope Motahari scored for the Monarchs with less than five minutes remaining in the opening half to make it a 13-2 game at intermission.
 
Besch opened the scoring in the second half and GC scored the first three goals of the second period before Walter tallied her second goal of the match to make it 16-3 with 17:53 to play.
 
Ziobro led the Pride with nine points on three goals and six assists. Besch finished with six goals and Nadya Fedun added four goals and one helper. Kirstin Norris posted a game-high 11 draw controls and Fedun added five.
 
In addition to her one goal, Motahari led the Monarchs with four draw controls.
 
Ashley Cannon played all 60:00 in the cage for the Monarchs and came up with seven saves on the day. Kaleigh Hemstock was in cage the whole game for Greensboro and made one save.
 
The Monarchs are back in action on Wednesday when they host Meredith at 4:00 pm.
