Jessie Earp scored three second-half goals, and the Methodist women's lacrosse team outscored Southern Virginia, 6-3, after halftime in claiming an 8-5 win over the Knights on Wednesday afternoon.

Tied 2-2 at halftime, MU (1-3) scored the first four goals of the second half, including two by Earp, to take a 6-2 lead with just under 20 minutes to play. Earp began the scoring at the 28:37 mark with an unassisted tally, and followed that up with a goal off a feed from
Sareena Coleman at 27:45 for a 4-2 lead.
Gabbi Tobias socred at 26:33 and
Bianca Terenzi netted a goal at 19:56 to make it 6-4 in favor of MU.

The Knights (0-1), inched within a pair of goals at 6-4 with just over 8:00 to play, but Earp scored off a
Cassie Walter feed at 6:12 to restore a three-goal advantage (7-4) and the Monarchs held on for their first win of the season.

In addition to Earp's three goals, Walter tallied twice and added an assist, to go with three groundballs. Tobias and Terenzi finished with a goal and three groundballs apiece.
Hope Motahari came away with a game-high six draw controls.
Ashley Cannon picked up the win in the cage, making four saves against five goals allowed.

Caroline Schroeder and Rainey Whitworth each had a pair of goals for the Knights. Whitworth also added a pair of caused turnovers and Zoe Bradshaw had a goal and four draw controls.

Methodist will return to the field on Saturday when it hosts Randolph at 12:30 pm.
