FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis defeated NCAA Division II member Queens (N.C.), 5-4, on Saturday morning in a hotly-contested match at the Monarch Courts.
The Monarchs (10-6) used three singles victories and two doubles wins to seal the deal against the visiting Royals (6-2).
Greg Patterson won his No. 3 singles match, 6-4, 6-3, and paired up with
John Dangerfield to win at No. 2 doubles, 8-6.
Dillon Sullivan prevailed at No. 4 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and
Teal Howard won his No. 6 singles match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
Taylor Buchholz and
Duncan Miller defeated their competition, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles.
Methodist will play next on Friday at Covenant. Match play is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
