Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Cassie Walter set a school record with 13 points, and the Methodist women's lacrosse team cruised past LaGrange, 17-8, on Sunday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

Walter scored nine goals, one shy of the program's single-game record, and added four assists in her record-breaking performance. She bested the previous mark of 12 points achieved by both Lauren McGonagle in 2005 and Lindsey West in 2006.

In the early going, LaGrange held a 2-1 lead after Alexis Dillard's second goal of the game at the 23:01 mark of the first half. From there, MU (4-9, 2-3 USA South) outscored the Panthers (3-9, 1-6 USA South) 9-0 to take an 11-2 lead by the 25:04 mark of the second half. Madison Antor scored four times over that span, and Walter had a hand in seven of the goals.

Antor began the run with a goal off a feed from Walter at 21:52 that tied the game at 2-2. Walter then added her second goal of the game, and Antor tallied twice more as MU took a 5-2 lead by the 14:20 mark. M. J. Barton's goal off a pass from Zhane' Ruffin at 13:28 gave the Monarchs a 6-2 lead, and Jessie Earp took a pass from Walter and pushed Methodist's lead to 7-2 just under a minute later.

Walter scored a pair of goals 15 seconds apart for a 9-2 lead with 7:02 left in the first half, and Antor capped the first-half scoring off a feed from Walter at 2:22 for a 10-2 lead at the break. MU's lead reached nine goals (11-2) when Walter scored at the 25:04 mark of the second half before LaGrange attempted to claw back into the contest.

Three straight goals by the Panthers pulled LC to within 11-5 on Olivia Monroe's unassisted goal at the 17:45 mark, but Walter promptly answered with another tally at 17:16 to halt the surge. Methodist led 13-7 with 13:17 on the clock, and scored four of the game's final five goals, two each by Antor and Walter, to cruise to the 17-8 win.

Ashley Cannon made four saves in goal for Methodist in picking up her fourth win of the season. Kallie Brook stopped seven shots in goal for LaGrange in suffering the loss.

For the game, Methodist outshot LC, 35-23, and won 16 draw controls to 11 for the Panthers. Methodist also limited LaGrange to a 12-of-27 mark on clears, and forced 29 turnovers.

In addition to her record-setting offensive performance, Walter added eight ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Antor finished with five goals, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers. Earp added a multi-point performance with a goal and an assist, and chipped in four caused turnovers and three ground balls.

For LaGrange, Ashley Davis, Kelsey Griffin and Dillard each scored twice, and Griffin had LaGrange's lone assist. Brook had a team-best five ground balls, and Davis and Jessie Hatch each caused three turnovers.
