Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. -- Meredith College used a 13-0 run in the first half to take a 17-1 lead en route to a 20-6 victory over the Methodist women's lacrosse team on Wednesday evening.

The Avenging Angels (11-3, 7-1 USA South) scored the first four goals of the match for an early 4-0 lead before
Hope Motahari put MU (4-10, 2-4 USA South) on the board with an unassisted goal at the 19:37 mark to make it a 4-1 lead in favor of Meredith.

After Motahari's goal however, the Monarchs saw Meredith reel off 13 unanswered goals, including five from Raven Winters, in assuming a 17-1 lead with 3:15 remaining in the first half. The Monarchs opened the second half by scoring three consecutive goals, all coming from
Cassie Walter, to make it 17-4, but the Avenging Angels countered with three goals of their own to halt any comeback bid.

Meredith outshot MU, 33-11, including 26-4 in the first half, and picked up 29 ground balls to 14 for Methodist.
Ashley Cannon took the loss in goal for MU, making nine saves and allowing 20 goals. Anna Adcock played all 60:00 in the cage for Meredith and made three saves in the win.

Walter led MU with four goals, an assist and four draw controls. Motahari finished with a goal and four draw controls and
Bianca Terenzi also scored for the Monarchs.

For Meredith, Winters (6g, 2a) and Katie Burnet (5g, 3a) each finished with eight points. Daniele Lee had six ground balls and Burnet added five, as well as a team-best six draw controls.

Methodist returns to the field on Friday when it hosts N.C. Wesleyan at 4:30 pm.
