Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team came up one goal shy of the program's single-game record in a 25-5 win over N.C. Wesleyan on Friday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.

In addition to Walter's performance, Jessie Earp added five goals and three assists, and Maddie Antor had four goals and three assists.

Sareena Coleman began the scoring 31 seconds into the contest, scoring off a feed from Earp at 29:29 for a 1-0 lead. Walter then pushed the MU (5-10, 3-4 USA South) advantage to 3-0 with back-to-back goals at 23:19 and 22:48, respectively. Laine Hicks put the Battling Bishops (1-10, 1-7) on the board at 18:01 to make it a 3-1 game, but the Monarchs answered with five consecutive goals, bookended by unassisted goals by Walter, to assume an 8-1 lead at the 10:58 mark of the first half.

Tikeyah Shaw halted the MU run with a free position goal at 9:42 to make it 8-2 in favor of the Monarchs before MU inched out to an 11-2 lead with 4:03 on the clock courtesy of goals by Hope Motahari, Earp and Walter. Shaw responded again for NCWC with 1:35 on the clock and Molly Lewis scored 13 seconds later for the Bishops to make it 11-4 with 1:22 left in the half.

Antor added a goal 14 seconds after Lewis' tally, and Motahari capped the first-half scoring when she beat Marissa Santos with just seven seconds left in the first half for a 13-4 lead at the break. MU scored the first three goals of the second half to initiate a running clock, and after Lewis' second goal of the game made it 16-5 in favor of MU, the Monarchs scored the final nine goals of the contest.
