Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist women's lacrosse team scored eight times in the opening nine minutes of a 16-1 win at Agnes Scott on Thursday afternoon.

The 16 goals by the Monarchs (2-6, 1-1 USA South) marked the most MU had scored in a game since putting up 17 in a 17-3 over Hollins on Apr. 10, 2012, and came from eight different players in a balance attack.

The Monarchs got on the board less 40 seconds into the game as
Jessie Earp scored off a feed from
Cassie Walter for a 1-0 lead at the 29:21 mark.
Madison Antor and Walter tallied unassisted goals for a 3-0 lead with 26:16 left in the first half, and
Hope Motahari took a pass from
Zhane' Ruffin and beat Agnes Scott (0-5, 0-4) goalkeeper Ashley Holder for a 4-0 lead at the 25:27 mark.

Methodist's fast start continued as
Bianca Terenzi scored on a free position shot, and
Sareena Coleman netted and unassisted goal at 23:01 for a 6-0 lead. Earp then found
Madison Antor for a 7-0 lead at 22:36 and Terenzi added another score to make it 8-0 at 21:19. Four more first half tallies gave the Monarchs a 12-0 lead at the break.

The Scotties broke up the shutout bid with the first goal of the second half, an unassisted tally by Alexis Nesbitt, to make it 12-1 with 23:43 left to play, but back-to-back goals by Ruffin gave MU a 14-1 lead by the 14:56 mark as MU cruised to the win.

Ashley Cannon picked up her third collegiate win making one save in the contest as MU outshot ASC, 29-7. Holder took the loss, making eight saves.

The Monarchs won 11-of-19 draw controls, including 10-of-13 in the first half, and scooped up 17 groundballs to 13 for the Scotties. Methodist also turned the ball over 15 times to 22 for Agnes Scott.

Earp and Terenzi each finished with three goals to lead MU. Walter had a pair of scores and two assists, and Ruffin, Motahari and
M.J. Barton all scored two goals apiece. Antor, Ruffin and
Oriana Clayton all picked up three groundballs and Gabbie Tobias had a team-best four draw controls.

For Agnes Scott, Hallie Bates led the way with three groundballs, and Rachelle Pierre had a team-high three draw controls.

Methodist is off this weekend, but will return to the field on Monday when it hosts Fitchburg State at 3:00 pm.
