The Methodist men's tennis team blanked host Guilford, 9-0, on Saturday.

In doubles play, the No. 1 pair of RJ Clement and Taylor Buccholz topped GC's Turner Votipka and Erik Meiler, 8-4, and at No. 2 John Dangerfield and Dillon Sullivan bested Trevor Cox and Aaron Smedley, 8-3. The last doubles match on the No. 3 court saw Teal Howard and Max Mancini top Mason Church and Levi Bruff, 8-2.

In the No.1 singles match, Clement grabbed a 6-2, 6-4 win over Votipka and at No. 2, Buchholz claimed a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cox. Dangerfield edged Meiler, 6-3, 6-3, in the No. 3 line and Sullivan won 6-1, 6-1 over Mesa Mortorell in the No. 4 spot. Howard finished with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Smedley in the fifth singles matchup and Kyle Merserau captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Bruff. 

The Monarchs will travel to Newport News, Va. on Sunday to compete against host Christopher Newport at 11:00 am.
