NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Methodist men's tennis team dropped Sunday's match against host Christopher Newport, 6-3.
The Captains (4-1) swept the Monarchs (1-1) in doubles play, grabbing an early 3-0 lead.
In singles play, Methodist pulled out three singles matches including
Taylor Buchholz with a straight set win over CNU's Chiraag Shetty, 6-2, 6-3, in the No. 2 match.
Teal Howard edged Michael Dodd in the No. 5 matchup, claiming a three-set win (6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (7-4)). The final singles games saw
Kyle Mersereau defeat Max Katcher, 6-2, 6-0.
The Monarchs travel to Oglethorpe, Ga. on Saturday to compete against host Oglethorpe College beginning at 10:00 am.
