DEMOREST, Ga. – The Methodist men's tennis team improved to 6-2 on the season with a 9-0 win over Piedmont College on Sunday.
 
Playing at the Burgen Tennis Courts, the Monarchs swept the Lions (3-2) in doubles action to start the day. Taylor Buchholz and Dillon Sullivan teamed up to defeat Matt and Nathan Metzger at No. 1, 9-7. R.J. Clement and Teal Howard paired up to best Mason Riza and Bryan Barnett at No. 2, 8-5, and in the third doubles matchup, John Dangerfield and Jake Groce topped Robbie Werner and Trey Martin, 8-3.
 
Later in the singles matches, Clement beat Matt Metzger, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 1, and Buchholz defeated Nathan Metzger at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2. Dangerfield added a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Martin at No. 3, and in the fourth singles match, Dillon Sullivan won 6-1, 6-0 over Riza. Howard edged a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 win from Brent Jenkins at No. 5 and Kyle Mersereau topped Werner 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.
 
The Monarchs continue road play as they travel to Rocky Mount, N.C. to take on N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday at 4 pm.
