FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Greensboro, Saturday at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center. The Monarchs won all three doubles and five singles matches to improve their overall record to 3-2.
At No. 1 doubles,
Taylor Buchholz and
Dillon Sullivan defeated Zach Passman and Kyle Gatti, 8-1. Next to them, on court two, RJ Clement and
Teal Howard bested Ian Weiner and Justin Rimball 8-1, and at No. 3, Jake Groce and Mike Jones routed Adam Morgan and Chris Grisson, 8-0.
In singles competition, Groce came out on the winning end of a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 battle in the second matchup with Gatti. At No. 3,
Seth Grant made quick work of Weiner, 6-1, 6-0 and
Mark Tarentino defeated Morgan 6-0, 6-2. Both Jones and
Eric Epting blanked their opponents, Rimball and Grisson, 6-0, 6-0, at the fifth and sixth spots.
Methodist compete again on Sunday at Benedict College at 1:00 pm.
