FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Monarch men's tennis team toppled the visiting Pacers of William Peace University on Friday, 9-0. With the win, Methodist now stands 9-4 on the overall season, while WPU falls to 0-10.

In doubles competition, the Monarchs grabbed an early 3-0 lead, winning all three matches 8-0. R.J. Clement teamed up with Teal Howard to best Patrick Ralph and Bronson Canovai at No. 1 and Dillon Sullivan and Kyle Mersereau defeated Nick Raspberry and Micahel Mckeel at No. 2. In the third doubles matchup, John Dangerfield and Jacob Groce bested Ryan Ecavarria and Elijah Wood.

Methodist dominated in singles play, as well, dropping just one game in all six matches. At No. 1, Clement blanked Raspberry, 6-0, 6-0, and at No. 2, Dangerfield topped Raplh, 6-0, 6-1. In the third match, Sullivan cruised by Canovai, 6-0, 6-0, and Howard bested Mckeel, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4. Mersereau defeated Echavarria, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 and Mancini won, 6-0, 6-0, over Michael Savage at No. 6.

The Monarchs will play at home again on Apr. 7 as they host Ferrum at 4 p.m.
