GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist's men's tennis team defeated host Guilford College on Wednesday afternoon, 8-1.

The Monarchs picked up two wins in doubles play, one at the No. 1 line when
Taylor Buchholz and
John Dangerfield teamed up to best Erik Meiler and Mesa Martorell, 8-1, and the other at the No. 2 spot, an 8-4 victory by
Teal Howard and
R.J. Clement over Graham Pearson and Chasen Chacon.

In singles play, Clement picked up a 6-4, 6-0 win over Meiler at No. 1 and at No. 2, Buchholz topped Mason Church, 6-2, 6-0. In the No. 3 spot,
Kyle Mersereau earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Martorell and at No. 4, Dangerfield blanked Aaron Smedley, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5, Howard edged Levi Bruff, 7-5, 6-2, and in the No. 6 spot
Jacob Groce emerged on the winning side of a 3-7, 7-5 (7-4) battle against John Bruenik.

The Monarchs will travel to Danville, Va. on Thursday to compete in a USA South match against Averett beginning at 2:30 p.m.
