DANVILLE, Va. – Methodist's men's tennis team earned a 7-2 win over conference foe Averett Universty Friday afternoon at the Averett Tennis Courts.
In doubles play,
Teal Howard and
R.J. Clement teamed up to edge Nicolas Quevedo and Abdugani Ganiev, 8-6, at No. 2 and at No. 3
Seth Grant and
Michael Jones toppled the pair of Carlos Lora and Alfonso Jimenez, 8-1.
In singles play, Clement came out on the winning side of a 4-6, 6-3 (6-0) battle at No. 1, and at No. 2
Taylor Buchholz defeated Quevedo, 6-4, 6-4. In the No. 4 line,
John Dangerfield edged 7-6, 7-6, and at No. 5, Howard bested Ganiev, 6-3, 7-5. In the final singles line,
Jacob Groce earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Ariel Prieto.
Methodist travels Orlando, Fla. to compete in four matches in its spring break trip. The first match is against Monmouth on Mar. 6.
