ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Methodist men's team suffered its first conference loss on Wednesday afternoon, an 8-1 rout by the 2015 USA South Conference champions, N.C. Wesleyan.
With the loss, the Monarchs are now 11-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play while the Battlin' Bishops improve to 12-6 overall and remain undefeated in league play, 10-0. With the win, the Bishops have clinched the USA South regular-season championship title.
Methodist's lone win came in the No. 3 line in singles play where
Teal Howard defeated J.D. Telles in a hard fought 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) battle.
The Green and Gold will finish regular season play on Saturday at 1:00 pm against Ferrum College.
