MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team opened its spring schedule with a 5-4 victory against Pfeiffer in Misenheimer, N.C., on Friday.

In doubles action, the team of RJ Clement and
Jacob Oehser collected an 8-3 victory over Axel Woerner and Raul Ruiz at first doubles. At third position, David Weir and Brandon Marchant defeated the tandem of
Daniel Wolf and
Kayhahn Alikhani, 8-2, before the pairing of
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson fell 8-6 to Bjorn Barvinski and Eduan Louw at the second slot to give the Falcons (0-3) a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

The Monarchs (1-0) tallied four wins in singles to clinch the win.
Jacob Groce defeated Ruiz at sixth position, 6-1, 6-1, while Dangerfield won 6-2, 7-5 at fifth singles against Merchant. Pfeiffer took the match lead Weir earned a 6-4,6-0 win against Johnson at the third slot before Barvinski recorded a 6-4, 6-4 win at second singles over Oehser. Clement tallied a 7-5, 6-3 win at first singles over Woerner, before
Reid Rose closed the match and sealed the victory with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 win against Louw at the fourth position.
