FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team closed its weekend with a 9-0 victory against Lynchburg at the Gene Clayton Courts on Saturday afternoon.

The Monarchs (2-0) swept doubles action after
R.J. Clement and
Jacob Oehser earned an 8-4 victory against Juan Borga and Zack Shane at first doubles, while the tandem of
Wynn Johnson and
John Dangerfield defeated the team of Dominick Gutierrez and Nick Savino, 8-1. MU completed the sweep in doubles after
Jacob Groce and
Brock Ebersole dropped Alex Ferraccio and Andrew Link, 8-2, at third doubles.

Methodist completed the sweep after winning all six singles matches, all in straight sets. Clement tallied a 6-2, 6-1 win over Borga at the first slot, while Oehser recorded a 6-0, 6-3 win against Shane at the second position. Johnson posted a 6-1, 6-1 win against Ferraccio at third singles, before
Reid Rose dropped Savino 6-1, 6-1 at the fourth slot. Finally, Dangerfield earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Gutierrez at the fifth slot and Groce closed the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win against Will Nsoesie at the sixth position.

The men return to action Feb. 25, at home against Guilford at 1 pm.
