FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory against Guilford at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Monarchs swept doubles play as
Ashton Walker and Davi barbour defeated Katie Claggett and Leigh Fishman 8-2, before
Sam Munze and
Han Le dropped Nora Prokosch and Chandler MacDonald, 8-0.
Aly Andrews and
Sam Carr defeated Maureen Smith and Makayla McLaurin, 8-0, to complete the doubles sweep.
In singles action, Walker defeated Claggett again by a score of 6-3, 6-0 at the first slot.
Jenna Landis earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Proksch at the second slot, while
Vatrice Williams landed a 6-0, 6-0 win against Leigh Fishman at third singles.
Donalyse Tyrell posted a 6-2, 6-0 win against Macdonald as
Abigail Weisler completed the match win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Smith at the sixth slot.
Methodist returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 26, against Salem beginning at 2 pm.
