ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team was defeated by N.C. Wesleyan, 9-0, on Saturday.

With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 8-2 overall behind a 3-2 mark in conference play. Meanwhile, the Battling Bishops move to 13-4 with a perfect 7-0 record in league action.

NCWC started the day by sweeping all three doubles matches.
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson dropped an 8-4 decision to Sebastian Sikh and Ioannis Brokakis at first doubles while
Jacob Groce and
Brock Ebersole fell 8-5 to David Chang and Ben Tolhurst.
R.J. Clement and
Reid Rose battled to an 8-6 loss against David Appelqvist and j.D. Telles at the third slot.

The Battling Bishops completed the match sweep after winning all six singles matches. Each singles match was decided in straight sets. Clement fought to a 6-4, 7-5 loss against Sikh at the first position, while Johnson and Rose each dropped their matches 6-2, 6-2. Dangerfield was defeated 6-2, 6-1, while Groce battled in the second set before falling 6-0, 6-4 to Richard Gende.

Methodist was scheduled to play at Ferrum tomorrow, March 25, but due to rain in the forecast, the match has been moved to April 7. The Monarchs will now return to action on Saturday, April 1, as they host the Panthers at 2 pm.
