HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina with a 7-2 victory against Wilkes on Sunday.

With the win, the Monarchs improve to 5-0 on the season, while the Colonels fall to 4-1 overall.

Wilkes started the match by winning two of the three doubles competitions. The tandem of
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson picked up the lone victory against the pairing of Adam Lefkandinos and Andrew Neidig at the second slot, 8-4.

R.J. Clement opened singles action with a 7-5, 6-0 win against Courtney Murphy, who is the No. 12 singles player in Division III and No. 4 in the region, in the first position.
Jacob Oehser dropped Artyom Nabokin 6-1, 6-1 at second singles, while Johnson defeated Lefkandinos, 6-3, 7-6 at the third slot.
Reid Rose fought to a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 win against Jonathan White at fourth singles before Dangerfield tallied a 6-3, 6-3 win against Troy Haas.
Jacob Groce earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Braddock Chow at the sixth position to complete the sweep of singles action.
