HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Methodist men's tennis team remained undefeated on the season after defeating St. John Fisher 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, the Monarchs move to 6-0 to start the season, which is the program's best start since the 2012-13 campaign. Meanwhile, the Cardinals fall to 0-2.
In doubles play,
R.J. Clement and
Jacob Oehser defeated Quinn Magiera and Jacob Zarzycki, 8-2, to open competition, while
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson won their fifth-straight match, 8-2, against the team of Dustin McCullough and Jonathan Harper.
Jacob Groce and
Brock Ebersole closed out the sweep in doubles with an 8-1 victory against John Miller and Adam Moran.
Clement tallied a 6-1, 6-2 win against Magiera at the first slot, while Oehser moved past Miller, 6-2, 6-3 at the second position.
Reid Rose recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory at the third slot, as Dangerfield picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win in the fourth position. Groce registered a 6-3, 6-0 win at the fifth slot as the Monarchs sealed the match victory.
Methodist returns to action tomorrow, March 8, against N.C. Wesleyan in a match that was postponed from March 6, at 1 pm.
