FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's tennis team earned a 9-0 victory over Ferrum on Saturday afternoon.
With the result, the Monarchs move to 9-2 on the year with a 5-2 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers drop to 5-8 overall behind a 2-5 record in conference action.
MU started the day by sweeping doubles action.
R.J. Clement and
Jacob Oehser defeated Connor Moncure and Kevin Ramirez, 8-5, at the first slot, while
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson dropped Danny Keo and Caleb Bellamy 8-4 at the second position. At third doubles,
Jacob Groce and
Brock Ebersole earned an 8-4 win against Garrett Freese and Riley Kern.
In singles play, Clement dropped Keo 6-0, 6-0 at the first slot before Oehser defeated Moncure 2-6, 6-4, 10-4 at the second position. Johnson moved past Ramirez 7-5, 6-1, while
Reid Rose earned a 6-4, 6-1 win against Bellamy at the fourth spot. Dangerfield raced by Freese 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles before Groce completed the match sweep with a 6-2 6-0 victory against Kern.
Methodist returns to action tomorrow at William Peace beginning at 10 am.
