FERRUM, Va. – The Methodist men's tennis team earned its fourth-straight win with an 8-1 victory at Ferrum on Friday afternoon.
With the result, the Monarchs move to 12-2 overall with a 7-2 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers drop to 6-9 on the season behind a 3-6 record in conference action.
In doubles play, MU swept all three matches.
R.J. Clement and
Reid Rose opened the day with an 8-3 win against Kevin Ramirez and Connor Moncure, before
John Dangerfield and
Wynn Johnson dropped Caleb Bellamy and Danny Keo, 8-2, at the second slot.
Jacob Groce and
Brock Ebersole completed the sweep in doubles play with an 8-2 count over Garrett Freese and Riley Kern.
Clement earned his 12th win of the season in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Keo at first singles. Johnson defeated Moncure 7-5, 6-3 at the second slot, while Rose tallied a 6-4, 7-5 win over Ramirez at the third position. Dangerfield fought for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-8 win against Bellamy, while Groce moved past Freese 6-4, 6-2 at the fifth position.
Methodist closes the regular season tomorrow at Averett with the match set to begin at 2 pm.
