Men's Tennis Blanked by No. 28 CNU, 9-0

Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The Methodist men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest to Christopher Newport on Saturday.
 
The Monarchs drop to 1-2 on the year, while the Captains, who are ranked No. 28 in the nation, move to 2-1 overall.
 
In doubles play, Coleman Baker and Trent Harner fought to an 8-5 loss against Andy Mason and William Trang at the second slot. RJ Clement and Hayden Wilfong fell 8-4 to Dominic acombe and Nicholas Ruzicka and Reid Rose/Wynn Johnson were defeated by Justin Cerny and David Reed.
 
In singles play, Clement was edged, 7-6, 7-5, by David Reed who is ranked 36th in the country as a single player. Baker forced three sets before falling 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 to Cerny, while Johnson also played to a third set, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2, in a loss against Mason.
 
Methodist returns to action on March 3, against Pfeiffer at the Gene Clayton Courts.
