MU Men's Tennis Falls to Averett, 5-4

Box Score DANVILLE, Va. -- The Methodist University men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 contest to Averett in USA South play on Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Monarchs sit at 3-4 on the season and 0-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Cougars are 3-1 and 1-0 in league action. 

In doubles play, the team of Trent Harner and Coleman Baker picked up the lone doubles win at the third position with an 8-3 win over Thomas Woodcock and Mathias Reusch.

RJ Clement picked up a 7-6, 6-0 win against Nicolas Yanes at the top singles position, while Coleman Baker topped Felipe Andreazza 6-4, 0-6, 6-3 at the second spot. Trent Harner earned a 6-1, 6-4 win at the fourth slot against Henry Blanco to set the match score to 5-4. 

Methodist returns to action on Monday, March 12, with a home match against UMass-Boston. The originally scheduled pair of matches against Ferrum set for Sunday, March 11, at the Gene Clayton Courts has been postponed until March 31 due to the high possibility of rain for a majority of the day.
