Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 contest to N.C. Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon.
With the result, the Monarchs move to 4-5 overall behind an 0-2 mark in league play. Meanwhile, the Battling Bishops improve to 6-3 on the season and win their first league match up.
In doubles, the team of RJ Clement and
Hayden Wilfong had the closest contest, but fell 8-4 at the top position to Ioannis Brokakis and Roberto Puig.
Coleman Baker and
Trent Harner faulters, 8-3, against Aditya Iyer and j.D. Telles at the second slot while
Reid Rose and
Wynn Johnson fell 8-1 at third doubles.
Rose fought to a third set in singles against Iyer but lost 4-6, 6-1, 10-7 at the third position, while Harner also forced a third set before falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-7. Clement fell to Sebastian Sikh, the reigning USA South Player of the Year, 6-4, 7-6 at first singles, as well.
Methodist returns to action on Saturday, March 17, with a home match against Averett at 1 pm.
