FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist men's tennis' annual MU Fall Invite got underway Friday afternoon with players from visiting Averett University, Barton College, Guilford College, the University of Mount Olive and the host Monarchs playing their way through opening rounds of seven flights of singles action.
Methodist's
Henry Blanco (Flight 4),
Lucas Dunlop (Flight 4),
Bradon Ly (Flight 6),
Kyle Klinek and
Alex Lycan (Flight 7) advanced into their respective brackets' semifinal rounds with wins on Friday afternoon.
Flights 6 and 7 will begin their semis at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with the other semifinals to follow.
Doubles action began play late Friday following the opening singles rounds, and will continue on Saturday beginning with championship matches in each of the four flights. Flights 3 and 4 will crown champions with 9 a.m. matches, and Flights 1 and 2 will follow at approximately 10 a.m.
The Invite was originally scheduled for September 6-8 but was postponed because of Hurricane Dorian.
