CHARLESTON, S.C. Methodist track and field athletes traveled Saturday to the Charleston Southern Buccaneer Invitational where several Monarchs registered results that place them near or at the top of the of the USA South Athletics Conference's performance list.

METHODIST HIGHLIGHTS
- In the final field event of the day, Methodist's Deasha Frisby uncorked a throw of 10.47 meters (34 feet–4.25 inches) on the third of her six attempts in the women's shot put, the sixth longest of the participants. Her heave ranks third within the USA South.
- Early in the meet Jeremy Prichard posted a preliminary heat time of 14.95 seconds in the men's 110m hurdles to qualify for the championship final. In that finals heat he improved his time to 14.87 seconds, third in the meet and first in the USA South rankings.
- Prichard's time of 22.38 seconds in the men's 200 is third-fastest this season within the conference.
- In the triple jump pit, Methodist's Vontre Howard landed a leap of 12.99 meters (42-7.5) to finish second at the meet with a distance that is also second in the league this spring.
- Also in second within league times is Makayla Lawler's time in the women's 5,000. She finished third Saturday with a time of 18 minutes, 16.39 seconds.
- Jimlyn Laurent just missed setting a new personal record (12.52) in the women's 100m dash, qualifying for the championship heat with a qualifying time of 12.69 seconds, and improving to 12.66 in the final with her fourth-place time.
- The men's distance runners had a solid meet, as Stephen Dukes was sixth in the 1,500 (4:15.08), and Conner Ayers (16:31.77) and Nathan Zauner (16:35.03) were sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 5,000m run.

The men's and women's teams will attend the Mount Olive Invitational on March 29-30.
