MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. Makayla Lawler and
Jeremy Prichard accented Methodist's strong outing Saturday at the 2019 Adidas Trojan Challenge hosted by the University of Mount Olive.
Lawler captured the women's 10,000-meter run with a winning time of 38 minute, 4.77 seconds. And Prichard won the men's 400m dash in a time of 48.96 seconds.
Lawler's time could finish the weekend ranked 15th nationally among Division III women, and first within USA South Athletic Conference competitors. She also place sixth Saturday in the 1,500m run with a time, 5:09.42, that is likely a top-five time in the USA South.
Prichard's time could end up 14th nationally and atop the conference list come Monday when all of the weekend's results have been entered into the D-III database at TFRRS.org.
Also placing well at Saturday's meet and challenging the top of the conference performance list was
Jimlyn Laurent in the women's 200. She posted a time of 26.15 seconds Saturday, good for eighth place at the meet and as high as second in the league.
Deasha Frisby landed a new best throw in the women's shot put during Saturday's meet, reaching 10.65 meters (34 feet-11.25 inches) in her initial throw of six from the circle.
Methodist's 4x400m relays raced well at Mount Olive, both the men's and women's quartet's finishing in second place.
For the women,
Chakalyn Patterson, Laurent,
Olivia Mague and
Machiah Moore combined for a final time of 4:25.28. In the men's heat,
Stephen Dukes,
Erran Greene,
Connor Ayers and Prichard posted a clocking of 3:23.86, which would be the fastest posting this season within the league, before all the weekend's results hit the books.
The Monarchs will next head to Elon College on April 6 for the Phoenix Invitational.
